Bread Loaf Writers' Conferences
Bread Loaf is one of those rare places where the most important things happening are invisible. The conversations between sessions. The moment a piece of writing finally clicks. The community that forms when people who have spent their lives alone with language suddenly find themselves surrounded by others who understand exactly what that means.
Our job was to find a way to put that on screen.
Writers are not natural film subjects. Many of them came to writing precisely because they prefer the page to the spotlight. Drawing out authentic, personal reflections from people who spend their professional lives choosing every word carefully requires patience, trust, and a process built around making people feel at ease before the camera ever comes out. That's the work at Bread Loaf, and it's the kind of challenge we find most meaningful: not capturing what the conference looks like, but what it feels like to be there.
"Working with Corey Hendrickson Productions to document the Bread Loaf Writers' Conferences has been an outstanding experience. Despite the intensive schedule of both programs, Corey had a remarkable ability to make our participants feel comfortable on camera, drawing out authentic, personal reflections from people of all different backgrounds. The collaborative editing process was equally impressive—Corey worked closely with all of us on staff to ensure each final piece captured the unique essence and spirit of the conferences. These films genuinely represent what makes Bread Loaf special and we are proud to feature them on our website and promotional materials." - Jennifer Grotz, Director of the Bread Loaf Writers' Conferences
